Ne pas confondre avec le livre français déjà cité de Martine Batchelor le titre anglais étant tout à fait antérieur.
Ce livre qui a fait l’objet d’une réédition aux Etats Unis en 2000 a été un grand succès des années 90. Leonore Friedman interroge et présente des enseignantes bouddhistes américaines (toutes branches du bouddhisme) qui parlent de leur parcours et de leurs expériences spirituelles. Nous aurons l’occasion d’en évoquer quelques unes.

In this fine book, Friedman recounts her meetings with seventeen Buddhist women teachers in the U.S. Friedman gathers her information by meeting personally with the women and often sitting their retreats and consulting with them as her teacher. So this is a very personal telling of how each of these women came to this place in their lives. It also gives a sense of how women give a new flavor to a tradition created by men. Some even left their tradition after attaining its highest position. I particularly recommend this book for women.
